When a localized dielectric breakdown occurs inside or on the surface of insulation, PD sensors placed at various critical points capture the emissions. These are sent in the form of analog signals to PD monitors, which convert them to digital waveforms and record various parameters for further processing.
Using bandpass filtering, phase or time-gating, and cross-correlation, Rugged Monitoring’s PD monitors isolate and eliminate noise and false positives. This digitized PD data is communicated to advanced asset performance management or remote condition monitoring software for further analysis and to provide real-time, data-driven diagnostics of PD faults.
